Diego Schwartzman Triumphs at FILA Sponsored Argentina Open, Captures Fourth ATP Tour Title
(FILA Luxembourg S.à r.l.) - FILA’s Diego Schwartzman capped off an incredible week of tennis in Buenos Aires by defeating Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets to take home the FILA sponsored Argentina Open title. Schwartzman dominated the field, defeating Lukas Klein, Jaume Munar and Miomir Kecmanovic, all without dropping a set, en route to the title match. Schwartzman continued his stellar performance on serve in the final against countryman Cerundolo, eventually securing the title 6-1, 6-2.
“It was an emotional week. [It was] very different because in the other weeks you don’t have all your family and friends with you, the people who never see you on court,” Schwartzman told ATPTour.com. “Having these moments, sharing this with them and winning the title is a totally different feeling. It’s amazing.”
With the win, Schwartzman became the first Argentine champion in Buenos Aires since 2008 and will remain inside the ATP Tour Top 10.
